Scouting Trip

Spent the last couple of days tooling around the Salmon River Headwaters area. Drove to the end of the road trying to get as close as possible to the first trickle of the Salmon River. Didn't quite make it.
For me, this little corner of the world is very enchanting. Realizing that salmon have been on this earth for the better part of 25 million years, and they are still making their journey home, despite incredible odds.
When Lewis and Clark made their way to the Pacific Northwest, there were an estimated 16 million salmon and steelhead that would charge up the Columbia every year. In the last several years 2 million salmon and steelhead returning was a banner year!
